My first Civil War walking tour for Historic New England is coming up this Saturday. I am a little nervous, but I think it is going to go well.
I will probably try to do my own dry run this week on one of my days off. Preferably tomorrow. I want to be sure to follow the walk myself at least once before I take other people on it. I also plan to write out a basic narrative that will accompany the slideshow introduction. I have already started that. Of course there are still a lot of little details to flush out.
Still, I am thrilled that I have been given the opportunity to do this at all. So far there are at least three or four people signed up for all three of the scheduled tours (September 22nd, October 6th, October 20th), and so I am looking forward to getting to interact with the visitors. I had this nightmare in my head of having one or more of the tours with no one signed up.
