We have all heard that cats have nine lives, but rarely is the evidence for one of those lives presented so starkly and so unexpectedly.
In a previous life, Bucky belonged to Mr. Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain.
Now, for those of you who know me, Twain is one of my all-time favorite writers and humorists. The man was just brilliant and hilarious. And he had a cat named Bambino that looks and sounds awfully familiar.

One description of Twain’s cat Bambino was this: Large and intensely black; thick, velvety fur; has a faint fringe of white hair across his chest; not easy to find in ordinary light.
Sounds familiar.

That’s Bucky. And descriptions of Bambino’s personality seem to match him as well: intelligent, even clever; vocal, wanting to sing to/with the cats he hears outside; inclined to want to go outside but never strays far; loves to spend a lot of time on the bed.
So yeah, I like to think that maybe Bucky was Bambino in a previous life. Kelly and I are going to try reading some Twain aloud to him and see how he reacts.
Thanks for training him well and loving him, Mr. Clemens.
