Sorry for the radio silence

I realized today that we haven’t posted here since the end of February.  We’re going to try to not let that happen again.  Sometimes life just gets in the way.

As most of you know, Geoff and I both work multiple part time jobs.  In the last couple of weeks I was also temping at a friend’s office because a coworker was out with a shattered ankle, and I was interviewing for a job with a Major Local University.  Add to that my other 4 jobs, doing taxes for other people, trying to fix Geoff’s CPAP machine, not getting much sleep, a concert, my jewelry show, and Comcast cutting off our internet service because of a $2.24 discrepancy on our bill (their fault, not ours,) and things have just been insane.

On the upside, after Geoff read them the riot act over the $2.24 and basically forced them to reconnect our internet service in less than 24 hours (really, they were telling us it would take longer than that), after my phone battery started to give up the ghost and wouldn’t work with less than a 50% charge, and after I finally GOT THE JOB at the local University (hint, their favorite color is crimson) things have been moving along more smoothly.

Oh, and then there was the letter from the IRS.

Apparently the IRS made a mistake in our 2010 tax return.  You read that correctly, the IRS made a mistake.  We got a letter yesterday stating in tiny print that they’re sorry and that they’re sending us a check.  It’s 2 years after the fact, we didn’t earn any interest on the money while they had it, and we can’t charge them any penalties for the screw up, but they’re sending us a check.  It isn’t a lot of money, slightly more than a half a month of rent, but that’s exactly where it’s going, straight to rent.  I’m hoping they’ll send us another letter exactly like it only telling us that they left off a few zeroes.  I’m not holding my breath on that one, but I am going to frame yesterday’s letter.

Otherwise, we’re entering Holy Week now and I should start my new very part time job next week.  Geoff and I will both have a lot of work to do through the weekend, though so far I don’t have a service to sing on Easter Sunday, which is sort of nice.  Oh, and we’re due for more snow, possibly on April 1st.  I’ll let him tell you all about that.
