It really hasn’t been that long since Season 4 ended, but it feels like it has been an eternity. I guess I had not fully appreciated how much I looked forward to watching Game of Thrones every Sunday, but there were times when it was practically the highlight of my week. I miss having that weekly thing to look forward to watching with Kelly.
So in the meantime I have been finding all sorts of ASOIAF/GoT things to keep myself entertained.
The great thing is there is just SO much stuff out there. I have been spending a lot of time over at Inn at the Crossroads, of course, but aside from that I had not really been going to any of the other fan sites with any sort of regularity. Until I put the Winter is Coming app on my smartphone. Suddenly, it was a whole new world. Wow. WOW. I can’t get enough. And I find myself doing online searches for all sorts of stuff related to the world of Westeros. There is just so much cool stuff out there. So here’s a summary of some of the more interesting things I have found recently.
Epic, epic interview with the great George R. R. Martin himself in which he blasts all the idiot impatient fans who think he will die before he finishes the books. George uses some “salty” language and oh how we love him for it. We’ll wait, George. We don’t care how long it takes. We love you and we love your work.
Which brings me to the rumors floating around that GRRM may just stretch the length of the series from 7 books to 8 books. Some people are freaking out, because of the show, I suppose. Personally I think it’s AWESOME. Another book to look forward to reading? Why wouldn’t I be excited?!?
This fantastic panel at the London Film and Comic Con with some actors I had not seen outside of their appearances on the show, such as Ellie Kendrick (Meera Reed) and Ian Beattie (Ser Meryn Trant). And HODOR.
There is so much awesome ASOIAF/GoT stuff for sale out there and I am constantly finding new and cool stuff: some of it funny, some of it clever, and some of it just beautiful. I am slowly putting together a medieval/Game of Thrones outfit. I can hardly wait until it’s all ready. Maybe in time for King Richard’s Faire, maybe in time for Halloween, that’s what I am hoping. We’ll see.
An interview with Natalia Tena (Osha) in which she talks about how she read all of the books and then binge-watched the series. Awesome.
