Jasmine Hopkins – my first niece

For those of you playing along at home, it’s been a really weird month here at Casa Dachshund.  The really good, new jobs that are awesome, has nearly been outweighed by the terrible, death and destruction.

Today there was more death.  My first niece died.  Jasmine, my sister’s Pomeranian, left us.

Jasmine had a perpetually pensive look on her face. Unless she looked happy.
Jasmine had a perpetually pensive look on her face. Unless she looked happy (that usually involved a treat).

Jasmine was well into her teens, 14 I think.  She’d been having some arthritis problems and such, but on the whole she was holding up pretty well.  Today she started having problems walking and staying upright and then started to breathe rapidly.  My parents and brother-in-law rushed her to the emergency vet where they determined she was having a stroke.  Like Rerun, there was no coming back from it.

Jasmine passed from this life this afternoon surrounded by her family after a long life of love and being pampered as a furry child and grandchild.  She was my first niece and I will never forget her.

"No flash, Aunt Kelly, please!"
“No flash, Aunt Kelly, please!”
