I am not a Morning Person. I never have been and I never will be. I have sometimes managed to pretend to be one for some of the jobs that I’ve held, but it’s never lasted very long. The reality is, I hate Morning People.
Apparently Oscar Wilde agrees with me.
“Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast.”, An Ideal Husband, 1893, Act I – Oscar Wilde
Lately I have been dealing with a lot of people who think that 9:30am is the middle of the day. It isn’t if you’ve had to work or rehearse until 9:00 or 10:00pm the night before, just FYI. When I get home that late and I don’t have to be at work at 8:45 or 9:30 the next morning? You better believe I’m going to be asleep at 9:30am the next day, just FYI.
I’m sure there are those of you out there that pop out of bed every day at 6:00am without an alarm and greet the sun with Downward Facing Dog and a latte. Good for you. I will never be one of you. Just, please, don’t call me when you’re up conversing with the birds. I’ll be cuddled up in bed with Geoff and the dogs, none of whom are Morning People.

Funny stuff. Love the Oscar Wilde quote. I never used to be a morning person, but now my aging bladder and aches and pains wake me pretty early. Oh well.
Thanks! See there is waking early and then there is enjoying it/inflicting it on others. I make a distinction.
I may have that Wilde quote on a magnet on my fridge. I like to think of it as a gentle warning to overnight guests.
