With apologies to some of you for whom this is true

I am not a Morning Person.  I never have been and I never will be.  I have sometimes managed to pretend to be one for some of the jobs that I’ve held, but it’s never lasted very long.  The reality is, I hate Morning People.

Some good old fashioned Phone Phreaking

Those of you who call our home number (not the numbers on our resume and not one I will post here) may notice something different about our voice mail.  We’ve changed the message to make it a deterrent to auto-dialers and telemarketers.

Looks like I will have no phone for a while

Well, as Kelly mentioned yesterday, I lost my phone.  I am still not entirely sure if it was accidentally dropped and some random person picked it up or if it was actually stolen, but I did file a report with the Boston Police Department.  The security software I installed was working properly, as we were able to keep the person who got it from using it.  Plus we were able to track it, which was somewhat helpful but also a little annoying.   Tracking does not help if the updates are only every five minutes (or otherwise intermittent) and if you are in a very crowded area (which I was).  So even though there were times I was literally within 25 yards of it, maybe 10 yards, I could not find it or the person who had it.  And the BPD were just not that interested in helping me recover it, which is just annoying.  At any rate the battery is probably run down now and I doubt I am getting it back.  So until I can get a new phone for next to nothing (June 9th at the earliest) I will have no cell phone.  So please don’t call it.

Oh, Internets, where art thou?

Still posting from my phone. Still no internet connectivity. Still no word from Verizon. We’re about to start a petition, or a fire, not sure which.

If you need us you know how to find us.

Verizon Fail, part whatever

I am posting this from my phone. This is our third day in a row with at least one call to Verizon to talk to “Peggy” or someone similar. Geoff has finally convinced them that, yes, we really do know what we are doing, no, we’re not going plug and unplug the damn thing again, and that the problem really is on their end.

Today they finally took us seriously and as a result they’ve completely shut off our internet connectivity. As a result we’re left to rely on our terrible AT&T cell coverage for internet service.

So, if you need to reach one or both of us DO NOT EMAIL US until we post otherwise here. Call the house, call our Google voice numbers, send us a text message, or call our cell phones as a last resort. As a reminder, our cell phones are ALWAYS our last resort as AT&T sucks.

If you are so inclined please feel free to email Verizon and tell them how awesome they are not.

Verizon fail- no internets for a day or so

ETA: The home phone is now working and is static free for the first time in weeks.  The internet is intermittent and has decided, seemingly all by itself, that it will only work wirelessly, when it wants to work at all.  Verizon guy, who was very nice and extremely competent, fixed a bunch of things and is working on getting us a replacement modem for our ancient DSL modem.  So, for the time being, if you need to get in touch with us please follow the standard order of operations: home phone, text message, cell phone.  Thanks!

Hi folks,
I’m posting from Geoff’s phone right now. Verizon
failed and our internet has crapped out. Our home phone is finally working again, but we are not sure how long that will last. If you need to get in touch with us please send us a text, call the home line, and as a last resort call our cell phones as we, especially Geoff, get almost no reception in the house.
Thanks,

~Kelly
