Back on March 6th, Kelly and I attended a very special sort of concert at the Garden. As anyone who knows us reasonably well already knows, we are really big fans of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series and the TV show based on it, Game of Thrones. Thanks to one of her coworkers, we got two tickets to the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience. It was by far the most enjoyable concert experience I have ever had. It was some three hours long, and I never got tired or bored. It was simply amazing.

I think Cersei is the Trump of Westeros
It’s been a while since I have written anything about Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire. I have been struggling to figure out what to talk about. Then the other day Kelly and I were talking, and it occurred to me that Donald Trump and Cersei Lannister actually have quite a bit in common.

Time for some GoT escapism…
because the real world has been just awful lately. Terrible. Horrible. I just can’t bring myself to talk more about it because it’s just too depressing. Things just get worse and worse rather than better.
So yeah, let’s talk about Westeros – the North in particular, although I am sure I will wander around to other places at some point.
Predictions for GoT’s BOTB
This weekend, Episode Nine of Season Six will finally be out, and I have to say I have been looking forward to this for a long, long time. Die, Boltons, die.
So here are my predictions, based on the still photos and brief video clips from the episode that we have seen so far.
Season Six of GoT continues to explode heads
Well, this show is known for its shocking moments (especially for non-book readers, known in fan circles as the Unsullied) and Season Six has frankly had more than its share so far, and there are still four episodes left to go in the season.

Well. I had wondered why they called this episode “The Door”.
I really didn’t know.
I had suspected that it would have something to do with the door to the House of Black and White, or maybe the door to the Great Sept of Baelor, or something along those lines. The actual meaning and significance of the name, and which door it meant, is something I could never have guessed in a million years.

Dear Benioff and Weiss… WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?
OK guys, I get it. George just hasn’t been able to crank out the books fast enough, and now the TV show has caught up to the books, more or less. So now you no longer have all that juicy source material to work from, you just have whatever tidbits GRRM has given you about where the story is going. That’s fine.
But guys? I’m worried. Frankly, you are starting to scare me a little bit. Not having Book Six or Book Seven to work from does not mean that you should suddenly become nihilists. It’s not a race to see who can kill more characters. Moving the story forward does not mean taking a large metaphorical dump on the hopes and dreams of the fans, ok?
