I managed to get a few photos before it got dark. The snow had not started coming down too hard just yet, but it was awfully scenic.

Nick Flynn, Ty Burr, Amanda Palmer, & Neil Gaiman
Regular readers around here know that Geoff and I are huge fans of The Bloggess. We also happen to think that Neil Gaiman is pretty awesome and that Amanda Palmer is pretty cool.
I signed up to work an event featuring Nick Flynn and Ty Burr and who was more surprised than me when Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman showed up? Bloggess? This is for you.

Boy, winter sure came early
Mark Twain had a lot of wonderful witty things to say about New England weather, and the most relevant (and true) for today would certainly be this one, from a speech he gave in 1876:
One of the brightest gems in the New England weather is the dazzling uncertainty of it.
Oh, boy, is he so right. Although the cold and rain was predicted, as was the high winds, I don’t think anyone thought that we would have any appreciable snow here in Boston today, and yet we got enough to turn the roads into quite a slushy mess.
About that whole “chicken little” thing
New England weather is notoriously unpredictable. Even with the vast improvements in technology and knowledge, no forecaster is going to be able to predict the weather with absolute certainty, especially far in advance. But when virtually all the meteorologists I read start sounding really concerned about a weather event, it might be time to start paying attention rather than poo-pooing it.
I am not a baker
And wow, is that a good thing. Not only can I not bake well, I cannot even decorate baked goods well. Evidence to follow.
Upcoming August Concerts
August is usually a pretty staid month for music here in Boston, but we’ve got some good concerts coming up. Everything from early music to Ravel is in the works for the next few weeks.
Summer Music Making
I haven’t been getting too many emails lately about other people having concerts this summer, so I’ve mostly been posting my own stuff. Lucky for you, I can now post an opportunity for you to get in on before the downbeat.
My Kingdom For a Spring -or- Locked In
Yesterday was a long day. I worked a day shift and then got home in time to make myself some food, check out my new health insurance on the internet (thank you, Commonwealth Care!) and then get ready for my concert and leave to walk there. As I locked up the house I remember the distinct feeling that the deadbolt caught a little strangely when I locked it. More on that later.
Harborfest is over
And it has been a very, very busy week for me, between the two jobs and police details.
Boston friends! April 27th 8:00pm ~ BNMI & The Seraphim Singers
Ok, so I was supposed to sing in this concert. I was going to rehearsals and learning the music and everything.
And then I got a job.
