Today is rainy and overcast, but the last few days have been lovely. As much as you all know how I do love the winter, I do actually like spring. Even if it does inevitably lead to summer, spring has some really great flowers.

Yes, some filler has been added to GoT
Last night’s episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones (First of His Name) definitively proved three things:
1) Hodor is awesome.
2) Brienne and Pod may well be the next Tyrion and Bronn in terms of comedy on the show.
3) One important ASOIAF character from the books may not ever make an appearance on the GoT television show.

The Internet tells me things
And today it has been telling me things with pictures. And so, I am telling them to you. A lot has been changing in the world and in our lives in the past few days, so you get pictures.

@MetroBOS thinks we’ve “lost the marathon spirit”
Twitter is hilarious. It has the tremendous power for good and also the power to do some really horrible stuff. Then stuff like this happens.

The King is Dead, Long Live the King
If you missed Game of Thrones last night then you’re probably going to be confused by the title of this post. That or you’ve already been spoiled by the internet from some other source. Either way sorry/not sorry.
Geoff and I have read the books, in some cases more than once, so we know the general story line despite what Benioff and Weiss might do to it to streamline for TV. That being said, the title of this post isn’t in and of itself a spoiler, it’s tradition. Either way, if you don’t want to know more, don’t go past the jump.
Surviving the Apocalypse
As anyone who knows me well will tell you, I am somewhat obsessed with emergency preparedness and safety in general. Mind you, not to the point of having a bunker and hoarding gold coins and such, but I do take that sort of thing seriously when it comes to normal Red Cross-type preparation.
Well, this past week I got to hear Annalee Newitz, one of the founders of io9, give a reading from her new book: Scatter, Adapt, and Remember:
How Humans Will Survive a Mass Extinction. And it was quite illuminating, and a lot of fun to boot. Count on the Harvard Bookstore to always bring in cool authors.
CHICKEN
So there was the Game of Thrones season 4 premiere.
Then this happened.
And then, the fan art.

My day? Made.

ETA: Fan art, the gift that keeps on giving. Now with MORE CHICKEN.

ETA the Second:
While twitter brought us the above image, it didn’t bring an attribution… immediately. Thanks to the link to this post getting around the original artist got in touch with me and I can credit the original image to ROCOM. You can find ROCOM at that link, which goes to tumblr, or on twitter @rocom
This is what the original image looks like.

If I hear from the creator of the image at the top I’ll be glad to ETA again.
