I added a new page to our site today.  It has pretty things on it, though I’m not terribly impressed with my photos.  You should check it out.  I’ve finally started making enough jewelry to sell.  No, I don’t have an Etsy shop.  Yet.  But I’m going in baby steps.

Email me or comment on the new page if you want to buy a pretty.

Upper Crust and the political divide

The source of overpriced pizza for a vast swath of yuppies across Massachusetts has filed for Chapter  11 bankruptcy.   I suppose it was just a matter of time.  Now, for those of you with memory as good as mine*, that means that the company Kelly and I don’t like much anyway because of the way they treat their employees** is having yet more problems.

*That is code for my memory is actually pretty bad.  Awful, in fact.

**And their prices.  And their terrible tomato sauce.

Hobby Lobby and Women as 2nd class citizens

I have to admit that I’d never heard of Hobby Lobby until the first time I went to Alabama with Geoff.  The first time I actually laid eyes on one I started laughing.  I couldn’t believe that someone would actually name their store something that utterly ridiculous.  It turns out that’s not the limit to their ridiculousness.

Geoff and I aspire to be on this website

Obviously, if you know us or have read the title of this blog, we have a lot of books.  I mean, a LOT of books.  I thought I had a lot before I met Geoff, and then I saw his bookshelves and all bets were off.  When we combined households there were books everywhere.

Following up on Replacements.com and North Carolina Hate

Back at the end of May I wrote about how Replacements.com had the guts to fight against the Constitutional Amendment that was enshrining Hate into their state laws in North Carolina.  I encouraged readers to contact them and show their support.  I emailed them to tell them how much I appreciated what they were doing.  As further proof of the kind of shop they run down there, they wrote back.

How cool is this?

JCPenney has issued a new Father’s Day ad campaign that really makes me smile.  It features a family with two dads.  And it turns out this is an actual family, not just actors portraying a gay couple with children.

North Carolina, Hate, and how you can help

For those of you who missed the North Carolina vote on Marriage Equality and all of the hate and vitriol that it splashed across the internet and airwaves, there is some unfortunate blow back happening now that you can do something about.

Nice to be back in the 21st century

So we have done it.  As of yesterday, we have a new ISP and thus a faster, more reliable Internet connection.  I had to make some minor adjustments to the home network, but generally speaking it all seems to be a dramatic improvement so far.  I can’t believe how much faster this is, after fighting with the crappy DSL for so long.  And this isn’t even close to being the highest available cable speed.

Anyway, we will be ending our old Internet service later today.  So please do not continue to use my old Verizon e-mail address.  It will be gone soon.   For now just use my gmail address.
