Lately things have been a little crazy around here. I have been running at full tilt to get a lot of work done for a lot of different places, getting less sleep than I should, while generally getting very frustrated with the world. And recovering from pneumonia. As there have been a plethora of oddly appropriate animal macros floating around on the web (most from ICHC), I’m going to use them to help explain my story.

Hobby Lobby and Women as 2nd class citizens
I have to admit that I’d never heard of Hobby Lobby until the first time I went to Alabama with Geoff. The first time I actually laid eyes on one I started laughing. I couldn’t believe that someone would actually name their store something that utterly ridiculous. It turns out that’s not the limit to their ridiculousness.

Bear Hug Pizza Man sees boom in business
I read this story, and it actually made me feel pretty good. I am happy for the guy. Call it karma, or good deeds going rewarded, or the golden rule, or whatever you want, just one spontaneous act of friendly positivity, and now the guy has had all sorts of goodness visited back on him. Bravo, sir. I particularly like how the attempts by some angry bitter people to destroy this man and his business have not really had any effect. In fact, they seem to have caused a huge reaction in the other direction. I hope for his sake, things stay good. Be well, Mr. Van Duzer.

26 posters
Don’t worry, they’re not all in this post.
Today I got my daily email from Fab.com. One of the featured shops was for artist John Keddie, a San Francisco based artist who is a multimedia computer savvy type guy. He also very clearly has an appreciation for pop culture and, well, twisted humor. That’s why we’ve put up 7 of his posters. The rest are probably too, um, gritty for our parents. As they read this blog regularly and may pass out from too much grit, we’ve erred on the side of caution with our choices.
My great white green whale
Geoff and I don’t have a lot of money. This means that when we need something I tend to spend a lot of time looking to find the right item at the right price and the right quality. That way we don’t have to replace it in 10 minutes and we end up with what we need. Sometimes this is harder to do than other times.
There, fixed that for you
Dogs and politics always make strange interesting bedfellows. One has only to check out Dogs Against Romney and read about the Seamus saga to know that, or to witness the swift death of Michael Vick’s career to know that being cruel to a dog is a great way to kill your public persona in the minds of the American public.
Geoff and I aspire to be on this website
Obviously, if you know us or have read the title of this blog, we have a lot of books. I mean, a LOT of books. I thought I had a lot before I met Geoff, and then I saw his bookshelves and all bets were off. When we combined households there were books everywhere.
More Brimfield posts… soon
We promise. But until we can get them done, here’s this.

This is from Etsy seller Long Winter Soap Co. They’re apparently New England people and I totally appreciate their sense of humor.

Forwards from our parents
Geoff and I both have Parents With Email. This is often a good thing as it is easy to get in touch with one another. We can email family photos and wedding related things back and forth. Things that 10 years ago would have required a carefully timed phone call can now be handled over the internet.
Except for the forwards. You know, those forwarded emails that you sometimes get? Our anecdotal research suggests that you are 1000.00% more likely to receive them from your parents than from anyone else you know. Or have ever met. Or will ever meet.
In lieu of content…
I bring you pictures.
No, not pictures of me or Geoff or the kids. Pictures from the intertubes. Pictures of animals that look like ours. Why? Because I’m tired and I have work to do and I just finished day three of New Job and my brain is full. That’s why.
So enjoy, or something.
