Dogs and politics always make strange interesting bedfellows. One has only to check out Dogs Against Romney and read about the Seamus saga to know that, or to witness the swift death of Michael Vick’s career to know that being cruel to a dog is a great way to kill your public persona in the minds of the American public.
Yard Sale People
We had a yard sale today. On the whole it went really well. However, when you’re dealing with random people on the street and people who saw your ad on Craigslist, you never know what you’re going to get.
Energy efficiency for the win
The past few weeks have held a lot of change for our humble home. Although it has not been the hottest summer on record for Boston (as far as I know) it has been rather warm. Kelly and I held out for a good month and a half before finally caving in and putting in our two small window AC units and turning them on. But that is not the only thing different.

We may have mentioned before that dachshund stuff just seems to find its way to us. The same is true for dachshund photos. Below are some adorable dachshund photos that we’ve come across or had mailed to us recently.
Can’t see Rerun doing this
Once the water got too close, I think Rerun would have given up. Still, this is cute and this guy does look like Rerun when he was a pup.

Stewie and Koko
Regular readers around here will know that Geoff and I have a HUGE soft spot for animals. Ours are our kids and we’ll make sure that they eat and go to the vet before we go to the grocery store or the doctor. They are our family.
As a result, we spend a lot of time helping other animals, individuals, and rescue groups get animals in need the care and homes they need. Today I’m going to tell you about two of them. One of them is a lot luckier than the other but they’re both special in their own way. I hope you’ll take the time to listen to their stories and help if you can.

Smoky Hopkins-Michael 3/13/00 – 4/2/12
It has been a hell of a day. Late last night, or early this morning in all actuality, Smoky died in my arms. He was twelve years old.
