Next round of interviews is coming!
I just found out that the software company I interviewed with for almost 5 hours last week wants to meet with me again. So we are planning to meet on September 13th from 10 AM to 4 PM.
I really hope this place hires me. I need a job, but I REALLY need a GOOD job.

My cell phone
Some combo of my actual cell phone and AT&T are up to tricks and I DO NOT like them at all. If you need to get in touch with me please do one of the following.
1) Call me at home. Really. We have a land line. It works and at this point it is better and more reliable than the cell phone even though it is Verizon powered.
2) Call my Google Voice number. There are like 12 ways I can get those messages and I can send and receive text messages from that number. If you need it, that number is 617-396-7664.
3) Send me an email. I am online almost all day as I am looking for work and wedding planning. At this point as there is a lag of DAYS between when cell voicemails are left and when I get them and seconds between when emails are sent and when I get them, email is the way to go.
4) Comment here. I’m on here a LOT. And I get an email whenever there is a comment left here. So if you need to get in touch with me and all else fails, or if you just want to leave me a witty comment, say something here. Ftr, I like witty commentary.
Thanks.

P.S. Geoff is STILL in the interview. Fingers crossed!
A 2nd interview for Geoff!
Geoff is in a 2nd interview with a local software development company right now. This is a big deal, it sounds like a job where he’d have some creative freedom, the company is very interesting, and the commute would be OK. Please keep your fingers crossed!

A good phone call, for once
I just got called for an interview tomorrow! The best part, aside from the fact that it is a job I’d be really good at? It’s 3 blocks from home. That’s right, 3 blocks away. Best. Commute. Ever.
It is a temporary assignment, but that’s ok. It’s temporary full time. I’ll take that. Fingers crossed that it all goes well tomorrow.

Lemme ‘splain… no… lemme sum up
First of all, the fantastic folks at Gentle Giant put up a link on Facebook to our post from the other day and we got all kinds of traffic. Thanks, guys!
Yesterday Geoff and I went to the 2011 National Urban League Conference Job Fair. It was absolutely, hands down, the best job fair either of us has ever been to. The job fair was all of Hall A at the Boston Convention Center and was about half and half interesting vendors and people looking to hire. We had more interesting conversations with people from all over the country than I can remember having in a long, long time. Also, I got a pony.
So.. about that university job…
Yeah, I don’t have it any more. I completed my 90 day probationary period, and they decided not to keep me. Needless to say I was stunned. The general consensus seems to be that there was some sort of personality conflict. Certainly my boss never warmed to me at all.
So anyway, now I am back to looking for work again, and as you can imagine, I am just thrilled about it (not). At least Kelly has had a lot of good interviews lately. I am going to try to keep working on more certifications, and personal networking, and whatever else I can do to keep me busy and constructive.

Phew, that’s a relief.
It looks like the job hunt is picking back up for me. I had an interview on May 27th that I thought went really well but I hadn’t heard back from them so I sort of assumed that nothing was to come of it. Then yesterday they called and asked to see me next Monday for an interview with the President of the company. That was cool. Sort of out of the blue, but cool.
This was very much on the heels of last week when I applied for a job with the Federal Government (!) and the day after I applied I got a call from the singularly nicest individual I have ever worked with in all of the job interviews I have ever had. Ever. She arranged a phone interview for me for today. I just finished with the phone interview/teleconference. They actually told me in the interview that I had all the qualifications that they were looking for. All of them. That’s never happened to me before.
And, this job sounds like fun. Well, fun in the sense that it would have me doing the analytical and people interactive stuff that I like to do. Most people would probably hate it, but I’m weird that way. Oh, and they told me in the interview that I’d hear by the end of the week about the next step. Very exciting, I love a hard and fast deadline.
I’m going to go ahead and apply to some other things this afternoon and tomorrow anyway. But I am hoping this one comes through. Being a Federal employee would NOT suck.

Woohoo!
I applied for a very interesting job on Wednesday and I just got a call now asking me for an interview on Tuesday of next week! Yay! I’ll keep you posted.

Job news!
I applied for an interesting music related job yesterday and I got a call about it this afternoon. Right now I’m playing phone tag with the woman who called me, but hopefully we’ll connect tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
