Most of you know that Geoff and I met on the internet. Most of you probably don’t know that Geoff had some very particular questions for me before we first met in person.

Concerning Hobbits (and Dwarves)
This December, the first of the two new Peter Jackson films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit will be released. It will be called The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey and needless to say I can hardly wait to see it. I have been a fan of Tolkien since I was in middle school, WAY back when. I remember (and used to own) the animated versions that were put out when I was a kid. So yeah, I am totally a geek about Tolkien. And of course Kelly likes him too, else we would not have included a little Tolkien in our actual wedding ceremony. No, we did not have anyone dressed up in costume or anything*, but we did use the Song of the Entwives instead of a traditional psalm.
Fab.com does it again
During today’s steady stream of email, this one made me laugh. This is from an artist who does modern quasi advertising art and political mockery in the style of 30’s through 50’s advertising. And, it is quite good.
Adele 6, Karl Lagerfeld 0
I first head Adele sing some years ago on SNL. I am old now and am not often up to watch SNL but that night for some reason I was.
I was blown away.

Scratch the mighty hunter
We’ve written here before about Scratch’s odd habits and various issues. One thing that his Prozac hasn’t changed is that Scratch is convinced that he’s a mighty hunter and that his prey is everywhere. He will attack the stuffed toys that the dogs leave everywhere and randomly grab them, shaking them fiercely as though he’s killing them.
He’ll jump suddenly in the air turning and growling just a bit and attacking an invisible foe. (Usually it’s a dust mote that only he can see.) The best part is that when he does this he usually stops when he’s done and sits there for a little while with his mouth open, fangs showing, and trying to look fierce. It’s like he saw an episode of a sparklevamp movie and thinks he’s a character. Naturally, this cracks us up.
Australia Day
Apparently Australia Day was yesterday. I was not aware of this until I received an email from Etsy entitled From The Land Down Under. (And if that doesn’t instantly give you an 80’s ear worm, nothing will.)
