Nope, that’s not the title of Geoff’s favorite WWII era submarine movie, it’s the radioactive iodine that’s going to be used to treat Smoky for his extreme hyperthyroidism.

JJ, this post is for you
Geoff and I have been meaning to put up these pics for a while. This is our Mini Cooper Clubman. His name is Basil.
Daddy’s Boy
Rerun is a truly special animal. If he was a human he’d be an extremely paranoid, anxious, and probably violent person of middle intelligence who was good looking and also happened to be a spree killer cannibal.
The closest I will ever get to owning a restaurant
Those of you who are regular readers know that Geoff and I love food. We love to eat it, to cook it, to bake it. We have more cookbooks than we have room to store them. Sometimes I think this blog is in danger of becoming a food blog. Or, at least, a blog about our favorite restaurant. Ahem.

Kittehs in love
Of all of our furry children, Bucky (Buckminster Charles the III), is probably the most personable. He loves people, is always around to greet newcomers, and can often be seen sitting in the window. Years ago, when I lived on Beacon Hill in an apartment with a completely enclosed courtyard, he was often known to not only go window to window and visit my neighbors, but also to leap vertically to the second story and sit on their window sills to make his presence known. He has always been very smart, an amazing athlete, and on top of everything around him.
Giant Men and Flying Furniture
We were on our way home from taking Thumbelina to the vet* yesterday when I spotted a couple of guys from Gentle Giant on Binney Street in Cambridge in the middle of a move. Rerun was in my lap and I pointed them out to him and we waved in our typical dorky “I have a dachshund in my lap “way. It was then that I was reminded that I’d promised the Gentle Giant folks that I would post these pictures.
Apparently, someone can read Smoky’s mind

Note: this does not make Geoff feel any better about it when Smoky, not pictured, actually does this. At least now we know why.
Someday soon, actual content!

More Sox!
I’m popping in from headache land to post some more Sox photos from the game on Sunday.

Paps makes his entrance from the bullpen. Gotta love the music.

I like Papelbon, can you tell? The two Sox shirts I have are Big Papi and Papelbon.
Ok, there’s work to be done. More later.

Woof vs. Meow
I’ve always considered myself more of an Animal Person rather than a Cat Person or Dog Person. Those terms always felt too exclusionary too me. So I found this little thing interesting when it came through my feed today and I thought I’d share it with all of you. Where do you fall?

Of course it doesn’t mention anything about small mammals. Or snakes. Do they count as “Exotics?” I wonder where my work at the museum with raptors and alligators puts me? Hmmmmm…..

Amanda is traveling, lucky us
My friend and bridesmaid, Amanda, is currently in the South of France. She’s blogging her adventures here. She’s an excellent writer, photographer, and she’s a total foodie. If you are at all interested in hearing about excellent meals, how to make them, and seeing photos of old churches and the hills and valleys of Provence (and who isn’t, really?) I highly suggest you bookmark the blog and check it every so often. She’ll be there for about 3 weeks.
