It’s no secret if you know me and Geoff that I’m the bigger football fan in this family. While we’re both Red Sox fans, I’ll generally sit and watch a football game on TV with more interest than I will a baseball game. I enjoy a baseball game live much more than on the TV while I will happily watch football either way. I am also far more likely to talk football smack with friends and coworkers than Geoff is. Unless of course you’re a Yankee fan, then all bets are off.

It’s the end of the world as we know it – Mayan style!
Some of you may know that Geoff and I find all of this end of the world stuff, erm, endlessly fascinating and funny. Between Harold Camping and his crew predicting the Rapture at least twice last year to the impending End Of All The Things this December because of the Mayan Calendar, we’re just laughing a LOT.

A post in which I am furious
Ok, folks. I know we’ve been been married for slightly more than a month and that some of you might find this slightly confusing, so let me lay it out for you.
Mrs. Geoffrey Michael doesn’t live here. In fact, she doesn’t exist.
Mrs. Michael is Geoff’s mom. Or possibly one of Geoff’s two sisters in law. She is patently NOT me.
Mrs. Hopkins is my mother.
I am Ms. Kelly Hopkins.
I did not take Geoff’s last name. I am not going to take Geoff’s last name.
Assuming that I did or that I am going to is ignorant, rude and, at best, old fashioned. I am tired of having to explain over and over again to the same people that I am still, and shall remain, Ms. Kelly Hopkins. Interestingly, Geoff’s tired of it as well. He’s also completely fine with the fact that I kept my name and we’re the only two people in the whole world to whom this should matter. Hm. Funny how that works.
For those of you who were at the wedding and were paying attention we were consistently announced as Geoff and Kelly. At no point were we announced as Mr. & Mrs. Michael. There was a reason for that.
Furthermore:
From this point forward mail addressed to Mrs. Geoffrey Michael, Geoffrey & Kelly Michael, or Mr. & Mrs. Geoffrey Michael shall be returned to sender unopened.
I am offended that people so casually disregard my intent and my very identity. This is who I am, who I choose to be, and who I shall remain. If you have a problem with it, keep it to yourself.

Dear Wedding Websites;
I know that you think your email reminders are helpful. A year ago, heck, even 8 months ago, they were. But I am acutely aware that our wedding is a month from today. Really, I am. So, with all due respect, I DO NOT need a deluge of emails telling me that “You’re running out of time!” “Is your to-do list up to date?” “One Month To GO!!!”
Wedding stuff. Not ours for once!
There is a lot of wedding stuff going on in my life at the moment. We’re under the 90 day mark and it just occurred to me today that I actually have to investigate getting our marriage license. Also, I have a ton of work to do on the sheet music for the choir. Yay?
I love this article
Right now there are a lot more important things going on in the world than this. Heck, there are more important things going on in OUR world than this. But with our impending wedding there is a LOT of pressure placed on me to look perfect. One of the things that has been coming up a lot lately is what I’m going to do about my hair.
