Verizon fail- no internets for a day or so

ETA: The home phone is now working and is static free for the first time in weeks.  The internet is intermittent and has decided, seemingly all by itself, that it will only work wirelessly, when it wants to work at all.  Verizon guy, who was very nice and extremely competent, fixed a bunch of things and is working on getting us a replacement modem for our ancient DSL modem.  So, for the time being, if you need to get in touch with us please follow the standard order of operations: home phone, text message, cell phone.  Thanks!

Hi folks,
I’m posting from Geoff’s phone right now. Verizon
failed and our internet has crapped out. Our home phone is finally working again, but we are not sure how long that will last. If you need to get in touch with us please send us a text, call the home line, and as a last resort call our cell phones as we, especially Geoff, get almost no reception in the house.
Thanks,

~Kelly

FOR SALE- TRS-80 Computer with all the peripherals and manuals

You know, I often give Geoff grief about never throwing anything away.  He likes to keep everything.

Sometimes this works in our favor and he ends up keeping something really, really cool.  Like this.

TRS 80 Model III
It's alive!!!

We have for sale one TRS 80 Model III computer.  It WORKS.  It has not one but TWO printers which also work.  Check it out.

DWP 210
It works and we have cartridges for it!

And finally, the giant pile of manuals and stuff.  We have SO much stuff.  Check it out.

Floppies and manuals galore
Yep, those are floppies. No, we're not going to "upcycle" them.

We’re selling everything individually.  If you’re interested leave a comment here or send one of us an email and we’ll get right back to you.  We need to make room for more wedding crap in our apartment and we’d like to see this stuff go to a good home.

Thanks!

My cell phone

Some combo of my actual cell phone and AT&T are up to tricks and I DO NOT like them at all.  If you need to get in touch with me please do one of the following.

1) Call me at home.  Really. We have a land line.  It works and at this point it is better and more reliable than the cell phone even though it is Verizon powered.

2) Call my Google Voice number.  There are like 12 ways I can get those messages and I can send and receive text messages from that number.  If you need it, that number is 617-396-7664.

3) Send me an email.  I am online almost all day as I am looking for work and wedding planning.  At this point as there is a lag of DAYS between when cell voicemails are left and when I get them and seconds between when emails are sent and when I get them, email is the way to go.

4) Comment here.  I’m on here a LOT.  And I get an email whenever there is a comment left here.  So if you need to get in touch with me and all else fails, or if you just want to leave me a witty comment, say something here.  Ftr, I like witty commentary.

Thanks.

P.S. Geoff is STILL in the interview.  Fingers crossed!

So, my laptop blew up

It’s been a month since either of us has posted here.  This has largely been due to the fact that 1) my laptop caught fire, 2) Geoff has been ridiculously busy at his internship, and 3) I’ve been applying to jobs like a crazy person.

Regarding the laptop, Geoff has taken it to his internship and his coworkers, who have all the fun tools, have managed to take it apart and, upon discovering SCORCH MARKS, figured out which piece went to the big computer dump in the sky and are going to fix it once the new piece arrives in the mail.

I have been having interviews fairly regularly.  This is good.  The problem is that 1) I’m always the other guy, the one they don’t hire, or 2) I get there and have a great interview and then find out that they’re paying peanuts with a side of pistachios.

Geoff has an interview tomorrow at a big local university.  I had an interview at the same university last week.  We’re both applying for more jobs than we can keep track of hoping that something good will take.  If you know of someone who’s hiring and who might want one of our charming selves on staff, send it our way.

Finally, my brother sent me this today.  He’s awesome.  http://obereed.net/hh/correlation.html
