Remembering the Blizzard of ’78
Tonight I was hanging out with my friend Patricio, and we went over to Micro Center to do some shopping and browsing. Man, I love that store. Anyway, the course of the conversation led to me talking about my grandparents’ farm in Somerset, and also led to me talking about the big blizzard of 1978. That event is one that everyone around here remembers quite well. My family here in Massachusetts certainly experienced it, especially my grandparents and other family members who lived in Somerset, which was in the area where it hit the hardest, down near the Rhode Island border. I think my grandparents got about 30 inches of snow in less than 36 hours.
Cheap fun
The fact that Geoff and I are low on funds is no secret. Many of our friends have commented on the fact that they haven’t seen a lot of us in the last few months. The is partly due to the fact that we don’t have the money to go out and do things and partly due to the fact that we don’t have the time.
So, we take our fun where we can find it.

Looking for the right gift for the young woman in your life that isn’t pink and frilly? That’s doesn’t teach her that all princesses need to be rescued by the prince? Want her to learn more about science and bugs and that making mud pies and getting dirty is OK?

Announcing Singing Stones Jewelry
Well folks, I finally did it. I’ve finally taken my jewelry obsession business online. SingingStonesJewelry.com had a soft launch in time for my first show, but I finally got the companion Etsy site online yesterday in time for today, “Cyber Monday”.
My first show!
This is so exciting! I’m going to be vending at my first show on November 17th! My great friend Niki forwarded me an email from ExCL. ExCL is a wonderful resource for educators in the greater Boston area. I’ve known about them for years due to my association with educators from the museum, but this is the first time I’ve been able to work with them.

I added a new page to our site today. It has pretty things on it, though I’m not terribly impressed with my photos. You should check it out. I’ve finally started making enough jewelry to sell. No, I don’t have an Etsy shop. Yet. But I’m going in baby steps.
