Yesterday was Geoff’s 42nd birthday. We both had to work during the day, but we arranged to go out to Kowloon with some friends for dinner last night. Hilarity and a coconut, which may or may not be possessed, ensued.

Yes! Vindicated!
We got our new utility bills, and what do you know, the difference between the amount of kilowatt hours of electricity we used this past month compared to the same month last year is huge. And what’s even better is even with running the AC units at full blast last year we still couldn’t get the indoor temperature below 78 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas this year it is almost always below 74 degrees. Those new curtains and the weather sealing really worked. Awesome.

Family dinner outing
Yesterday we had a bit of a family get-together, probably the first one Kelly and I have attended since Christmas. My parent flew into town and they will be in New England for over two weeks. So a large group of us went out to dinner at this place called The Chateau in Andover.
The new jobs
I have not talked about my jobs in a while, and I wanted to let people know how they were going.
They are going quite well.
We met The Bloggess
Ok, so this post is a week late. That does not in any way diminish the awesomeness that is Jenny Lawson, The Bloggess. The link to her blog is in our blog roll to your right. If you haven’t read her stuff I recommend that you click through. I will, however, warn you. She’s not for the easily offended, she’s fond of four letter words, and she’s from Texas.
How cool is this?
JCPenney has issued a new Father’s Day ad campaign that really makes me smile. It features a family with two dads. And it turns out this is an actual family, not just actors portraying a gay couple with children.
First Brimfield report
Ok, it isn’t a report, just a link. But still, I love making the news.

Upcoming Boston Music Events
As my New Job has finally been able to update the website, I’ve now been able to update my resume. That also means that I can do things like advertise cool opera related things here like discounted tickets. As I’ve also picked up some part time work at the Harvard Book Store working their events, I figured I should point out some upcoming events that might be interesting to the music geeks who read this blog.
Please note, as it says at the very bottom of the page, this is our blog and I am posting this as a service to my readers and friends, not because I’ve been asked to by my employer(s) or because it benefits me in any way. (Other than giving me something nifty to write about.)
I love being the fun uncle
Sometimes, it’s just what I need to make me feel good. A few weeks ago Kelly and I hosted our nephews Will and Ben and niece Kate along with their mom, my sister Liz. The kids all had a great time. We ourselves had fun, too. And then a couple of weeks after that we got a card from Liz that included a card from Kate. Apparently she really liked her visit to the butterfly garden at the Museum of Science.
A belated post-PAX report
Although I was fairly swamped with work this past weekend, I somehow managed to take the time to go see PAX East, the huge gaming convention and general geekfest organized by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins of Penny Arcade fame. Kelly’s brother Matt came up from Philadelphia and joined Patricio and I as we indulged ourselves in a geek’s paradise – specifically, a gaming geek’s paradise. So go no further if you have a low tolerance for that sort of thing.
