Because commuting in Boston isn’t fun enough…

Tonight it took two hours, a bus, and a taxi to get me from my front door to Mission church where I was singing a Holy Thursday Service (that’s Maundy Thursday to you non-Catholics out there).  Normally it’s a 45 minute trip at most.  Now things are about to get worse.

Bulletins from the animal kingdom

Easter is almost upon us and that means a couple of things: spring is coming (no, really, it is, promise!), Geoff and I will be *really* busy this weekend, people will be doing stupid and ill advised things like getting their kids bunnies, chicks, and ducklings for their baskets on Sunday morning, and the annual seal skin kill is going on in Canada.

The Seraphim Singers Have Rescheduled

Despite the best attempts of Old Man Winter, The Seraphim Singers have rescheduled our Russian music concert originally scheduled for 2/10 and 2/17.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Most of you know that I’m not a big Valentine’s Day fan.  Despite the fact that I’m married I’m still not a big fan.  I think today is mostly about Hallmark and chocolate companies making money and about making people feel guilty about having to buy some over-hyped and over-expensive gift for someone else.  It’s also death for a relationship that’s beginning or in trouble.

That being said, there’s nothing like cute animals and Grumpy Cat to make me smile.  So, I bring you our Valentine.  This year I didn’t even put it together in the spirit of the Valentine’s Day Massacre!  Progress?

2012 in review

It’s that time again.  WordPress has helpfully provided us with all kinds of cool stats on our blog.  There are also nifty graphics and fun details about where all of you kindly readers came from, what you liked to read about, and what you searched for.

I can tell you from experience that we get a lot of people coming here looking for words like “disturbing” “sexist women”  and “women comparison”.  I find that a little disturbing, but if you stay for a read I suppose it’s not a bad thing?

Enjoy the WordPress report and have a safe and healthy celebration tonight.  I’ll be here at home working on Etsy, enjoying an honest-to-God day off, and relaxing with the kids.

Happy New Year!

~Kelly

First real snowstorm in about a year

Yesterday (actually, mostly last night) we finally got some real snow here in Greater Boston.  So this morning when I got up, I actually had to do some shoveling.  Sadly, it was not really enough snow to make it worth the time to break out the little snow blower we own.

A Christmas tradition

Some friends and I have developed a Christmas Eve tradition that I am partaking of even as I type this. Do we exchange gifts? Do we throw a party? Do we sing carols together?

Yes, but not on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve we go out for Indian food at a very specific restaurant.

More Christmas photos

Because if there is one thing that the Internet needs, it’s more pictures of cats doing silly things.  These are from when Scratch was still in his “Ooo, it’s that special holiday cat perch!  Just for me!” phase.
