Yesterday was Geoff’s 42nd birthday. We both had to work during the day, but we arranged to go out to Kowloon with some friends for dinner last night. Hilarity and a coconut, which may or may not be possessed, ensued.
Well, crap
I came across this on Boston.com this afternoon. I’m not one to generally put much faith in medical studies because one is generally the exact opposite of the next one to come down the pike. This one, however hits home for me.
This just breaks my heart, for several reasons
I hate to see historical markers or monuments vandalized. It’s bad enough that my own ancestor’s monument was vandalized in recent years. Happy August 1st
What on earth were they thinking?
Someone vandalized the Shaw monument today. It happened this afternoon, literally while I was working down the street. In fact, I walked past the monument on my lunch break. Yes! Vindicated!
We got our new utility bills, and what do you know, the difference between the amount of kilowatt hours of electricity we used this past month compared to the same month last year is huge. And what’s even better is even with running the AC units at full blast last year we still couldn’t get the indoor temperature below 78 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas this year it is almost always below 74 degrees. Those new curtains and the weather sealing really worked. Awesome.

July and August Concerts
I just got this email today from Matthew Hall and so I thought I’d pass it along to the rest of you. There are three concerts he’s involved with, starting tonight, that help wrap up SoHIP.
Things I do not understand
There are lots of things in this world I do not understand. Septum piercings, Mitt Romney, people who drive Hummers in cities, and fanfic are a few. Today Etsy introduced me to a new one. So did Fab.com.
Yard Sale People
We had a yard sale today. On the whole it went really well. However, when you’re dealing with random people on the street and people who saw your ad on Craigslist, you never know what you’re going to get.
