Sometimes the posts just write themselves

This is our 500th post here at KellyandGeoff.com.  Geoff and I were wondering what to write.  Perhaps we should observe the occasion with something special?

Then we came across these links and realized that we had to share them with the world.  Sometimes, you just have to go with what finds you.  Thank you, internet.

Grumpy Cat is my BFF

Every so often there is an internet cat meme that I just really, ridiculously love. Grumpy Cat just makes me ridiculously happy.  I think she might be my totem animal.

You can imagine then that I was forced to stop in the freezing cold the other day and take these photos.

I met David Sedaris, again.

The first time I met David Sedaris was at a book signing several years ago.  I met him again in 2010 when Geoff and I saw him read and sign Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk at the Harvard Book Store.  Last Tuesday I worked a private event for the book store in which I got to spend about an hour and a half just sitting and chatting with David Sedaris.

Yes, there are times when my life is awesome.

This is not the post I was going to write

That post is longer and will be coming up in the next day or two.  But, this caught my attention as I was reading Boston.com and cleaning up my inbox today and I thought I’d share.  Personally, I’m a little disappointed they didn’t get away with it.

A Geek-savvy White House

I already knew that the current President is a lot more science-friendly than his predecessor, but it turns out that there are some outright geeks who work for President Obama.  Someone created a petition asking the government to build a Death Star, and managed to get enough signatures to warrant a response.  In return, the White House response may have just won the Internet.

More Christmas photos

Because if there is one thing that the Internet needs, it’s more pictures of cats doing silly things.  These are from when Scratch was still in his “Ooo, it’s that special holiday cat perch!  Just for me!” phase.

Cheap fun

The fact that Geoff and I are low on funds is no secret. Many of our friends have commented on the fact that they haven’t seen a lot of us in the last few months. The is partly due to the fact that we don’t have the money to go out and do things and partly due to the fact that we don’t have the time.

So, we take our fun where we can find it.

How to market the end of the world

This whole, “OMG the world is going to end on 12/21/12 !!11!!!1!”… “or maybe not” thing has made both of us a little testy.  Geoff has mentioned in the past in references to other Doomsday predictions that also went nowhere that he was tempted to create Geoffrey’s Apocalyptic Passover Service, LLC.

He’s beginning to regret that he didn’t.

spam, spam, spam…

There are times when spam amuses me.  The usual, “Hott!!! girl wants to hook up with YOU!” stuff gets deleted immediately along with anything that refers to penis enlargements, FREE prescriptions, various male enhancements, etc, etc.  That’s the usual stuff we get via email at our various accounts.

Spam here at the blog, however, is a bit of a different beast.

One of my favorite holiday movies is getting a sequel

There are a lot of holiday movies out there, and even more if you count pseudo-holiday movies that are set during the holidays but not necessarily about the holidays.  The first Die Hard movie is a good example of that.  It’s hardly a movie that Grandma will sit down to watch with the grandkids, but it is set during the holidays.  Frankly, there aren’t a whole lot of them I like, but I do have a few favorites.  And there are two that I watch every holiday season because I love them that much.  The first is Love, Actually, which is not just a great holiday movie, it’s a great movie, period.  Lots of big names in it and the movie is just so well done.  The second is a somewhat obscure comedy that has become a cult classic.  No, I don’t mean A Christmas Story.  I mean The Hebrew Hammer
