Sigh… I miss Game of Thrones

It really hasn’t been that long since Season 4 ended, but it feels like it has been an eternity.  I guess I had not fully appreciated how much I looked forward to watching Game of Thrones every Sunday, but there were times when it was practically the highlight of my week.  I miss having that weekly thing to look forward to watching with Kelly.

So in the meantime I have been finding all sorts of ASOIAF/GoT things to keep myself entertained.

Quick trip to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire

I had to go to our branch office in Bedford, New Hampshire on Friday, which gave me a chance to have dinner with my sister Liz and her family in Lee.  It also allowed me to make a trip to Mt. Washington the next day to do some hiking for the Longest Day with coworker Jason Lynch and his team.   I had never been to Mt. Washington before, but I have wanted to climb it for years.  So I finally had my chance.

A good Dornish meal to honor the Red Viper

I have been wanting to make a Dornish meal for some time, and now that I have had a long weekend home to help Kelly as she recovers from her surgery I have had some time to make it.   So here is my traditional Dornish meal of dates, cheese, olives, chickpea paste, and flatbread.  And wine, of course.

Brimfield 2014 – The Loot – Part 2

We’ve showed you the books, the jewelry, and the metal-ware.  Now it’s time for everything else.  It’s amazing how much great stuff we got that was SO inexpensive.  It’s also amazing that we’re going to be able to fit it all in 3 posts.

Brimfield 2014 – The Loot – Part 1

Geoff and I found a lot of great things at Brimfield this year.  Unlike past years we didn’t go looking with extremely specific things in mind.  This helps tremendously because you tend to happen across things that you can use or give as gifts and spend more time browsing and less time hunting.  I’ve managed to photograph most of the items.  We’re going to break them up into a few posts over the next week or so because listing them all at once would be insane.

Beautiful spring day today

Kelly and I were working at a craft fair trying to sell some of her jewelry and the weather was just gorgeous.  In the morning it was a bit low so I walked to a little neighborhood market to get a bite to eat for us.  While there the nearby railroad crossing started flashing and dinging as a train approached the crossing.  So I walked over to take a look.

Hey, Boston!

Today is a beautiful day.  In fact, today is supposed to be the best day this weekend.  Do all of us who are stuck inside working a favor:

GO OUTSIDE

Take your dog for a walk.  Find a bench and read Game of Thrones in the sunshine.  Go to your local park with some friends and practice your light saber dueling.  I know we’re in the grip of Marathon frenzy right now so maybe don’t take a backpack anywhere, but go out and do something.  Get some of that Vitamin D that we New Englanders lack.

And for the love of all that is good and holy, don’t hole yourself up in a library, museum, mall, or other indoor windowless place.  Those of us who are stuck working inside one of these places thank you in advance.
