With apologies to some of you for whom this is true

I am not a Morning Person.  I never have been and I never will be.  I have sometimes managed to pretend to be one for some of the jobs that I’ve held, but it’s never lasted very long.  The reality is, I hate Morning People.

This week, in the randomness that is the internet

Every so often I come across a random photo or drawing on the internet that amuses or horrifies me.  Or if I’m lucky it makes me wonder what on earth is going on.  This is a round up of three that I’ve come across this week.  Enjoy?

Summer storm insanity

Yesterday I worked all day in Boston and then headed to a security gig down the street in Beacon Hill.  When I left the house that morning, they said there was a slight chance of rain later in the day.  I think it was something like 20%.  So I had my little umbrella with me, thinking that I would be fine since I did not have too far to walk.

Well, the weather got a little interesting just after I got to my security job.

My great white green whale

Geoff and I don’t have a lot of money.  This means that when we need something I tend to spend a lot of time looking to find the right item at the right price and the right quality.  That way we don’t have to replace it in 10 minutes and we end up with what we need.  Sometimes this is harder to do than other times.

More news like this, please

Yesterday I saw the news that Michael Clarke Duncan had died and I was SO sad.  His part in The Green Mile had really left me feeling like I knew him.  As an actor he’d stepped out of himself and let the character fill him.  In other words, he did a damn fine job and I really, truly respected that.  Geoff and I both, when we heard the news separately, felt like we’d been socked in the gut.

This kind of news, however, I could read all day.

There, fixed that for you

Dogs and politics always make strange interesting bedfellows.  One has only to check out Dogs Against Romney and read about the Seamus saga to know that, or to witness the swift death of Michael Vick’s career to know that being cruel to a dog is  a great way to kill your public persona in the minds of the American public.

Creepy item of the day

I’m a big fan of putting up weird, creepy, poorly thought out, and generally strange stuff here that I find in various parts of the internet.  Some times they’re emailed to me and other times I just happen across them.  Today, this landed in my inbox.

Turns out that I am half Cylon

Yeah, I know what you are thinking.  “Um, Geoff, what are you talking about?”

Well, I have definitive proof that the Cylons, at least the ones from Earth, were Portuguese.  No wonder we were such great explorers for so long.

Pneumonia

As it happens with these things, Geoff and I were approved for Commonwealth Care.  We picked Neighborhood Health Plan, paid our premiums, and promptly got screwed over in every way imaginable.  Before you click through to read the rest, know this.  This isn’t a screed against Obamacare or Socialized Medicine, I am a fan of those things.  This is a screed against incompetent people, those who don’t want to do their jobs, and corporations that put their bottom line over the health of individuals and, in this case, possibly thousands of people.
